This week, we're going to try a metallic leafing pen resist technique. It is done with Krylon metal leaf pen in the color of your choice, and watercolor pencils.
On a sheet of watercolor paper, draw random lines with the metal leafing pen.
Once the metal leaf has dried completely, color around the lines with watercolor pencils, varying the shades and even overlapping colors a little for an interesting blending effect.
The result will look something like this:
Then, using a wet paintbrush - foam or bristle will work, about 1" in diameter. The direction of the wet strokes will determine how the colors blend and spread. The wetter the brush, the lighter the color will become. Once completely dry, the resulting background can be used for any number of applications: ATC's, greeting cards, even elements of a scrapbook page.
Go ahead and give it a try!
